THE KRESS HOLLYWOOD
The Kress – Known for his innovative and unique style, successful restaurateur and nightlife guru Mike Viscuso has created The Kress as the next Hollywood landmark. The Kress is an upscale dining and entertainment venue which boasts a full service restaurant lead by world renowned Executive Chef Travis Kamiyama with a carefully crafted cuisine menu with an Asian flare; a basement level lounge offering live entertainment and dance floor; a third level banquet and event centre offering food and service, live entertainment and dance floor; and finally a spectacular design-driven rooftop lounge with cabanas and a 360 degree view of Los Angeles including the legendary Hollywood sign. In 2005, The Kress took over the Frederick’s of Hollywood flagship location and through many delicate phases of unveiling and refurbishing, The Kress maintains the original 1930’s marble stairway, brass railing, ornate Italian-designed ceiling and art deco facade.
The Kress is an ambitious four-story venue in the art deco Kress Department Store building which was most recently occupied by Frederick's of Hollywood until they moved across the street in 2007. There is a two-story restaurant, a basement nightclub that is open to the public, an exclusive rooftop patio bar that is for insiders and high rollers only, and a third-floor lounge for private parties and overflow from the roof. That’s four-stories worth of reality TV stars and celebrity starlets to gawk at. Be warned: Where the famous people go, tight velvet ropes and paparazzi are sure to follow.
The Roof Top lounge with bright coloured couches has a 360-degree panoramic view of the entire city and a perfect view of the Hollywood sign, as well as seven private cabanas for exclusive table service that comes with more than just a bottle of vodka! Each table has a personal server and table assistant, both of whom are at the ready with caviar and flat breads. There are six couches and four champagne pods, nestled around the patio--perfect for Dom Perignon for two. Cigar service and a late night dining menu are also available.
Celebrities:
Paris Hilton threw a masquerade ball here even before it even opened, that’s how hot this venue is.
It was utter madness at The Kress on a recent Saturday night when Justin Timberlake arrived at the back entrance with Jessica Biel, prompting cocktail waitresses to run to the window for a look while a rush of clubbers tried to cram their way up a flight of stairs to the roof where the couple was headed. Then came a stream of other famous club kids pushing through, also eager to get in on the action: Lauren Conrad and Lo Bosworth, Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo, Kristen Cavallari, a Wayans brother, even Benjamin McKenzie of "The O.C.".
The ground level restaurant is like a temple to all things Asian with an '80s Vegas twist--red lights wash over the central wraparound bar anchored by a massive crystal chandelier, while clear acrylic bar stools, ornate black lacquer accents (including a completely restored 1930s ceiling) and gold leather banquettes dot the space. Oh, and there's two enormous fu temple dogs guarding the doorway. A red light fixture cascading from the ceiling is the focal point of the room done in black and gold tones.
The 220-seat ground floor pan-Asian restaurant and downstairs club will open first, with the third and roof top to follow
