EMPIRE
HOLLYWOOD: Profile |
EMPIRE HOLLYWOOD
Like a decadent Roman drinking hall updated for modern times, Empire Hollywood is the latest jewel to be added to Hollywood’s burgeoning nightlife scene. Instead of mead and togas you’ll find top-shelf vodkas and table dancing. Red curtains and plush red and beige couches fronted by low-slung tables define the décor. Candles flicker on tables and the two long rustic bars invites thirsty partiers with an impressive selection of sparkling bottles. There’s a ventilated smoking room for those with a yen for cigars and a coliseum-style dance floor surrounded by Greek columns and two-tiered booths. Dance beats are provided by DJs using a state-of-the-art sound system.
Risen from the ashes of Sugar, Empire Hollywood is founded upon a patented only-in-Hollywood manifesto of vodka bottles and table-dancing. Past the entrance cabana and the ventilated smoking room within, you'll find the coliseum-style dance floor surrounded with tiered booths, two rustic bars and Greek columns. (Think the Parthenon meets Saturday Night Fever.) We like the seats in back, cloaked in darkness under the DJ booth.
Owner Steve Marlton (Apple, Pearl, Beach on Sunset, Sugar) has brought in various promoters to man the doors.
