Coco de Ville, a lounge concept presented by The ONE Group, who currently owns or operates a portfolio of brands including STK, ONE, Tenjune, Kiss & Fly, Bagatelle, and Rendez Vous to name a few. With its first location being adjacent to famed steakhouse STK on La Cienega Boulevard in Los Angeles, Coco de Ville will soon open in Miami at the Gansevoort South and continue to expand into Las Vegas, New York and beyond. After setting a new benchmark in Los Angeles from the moment it opened its doors, The Los Angeles Times named it as the top the lounge in the city writing, “2008 was Coco de Ville’s Year.”
The lounge’s name is inspired by the whimsical character Coco de Ville; a woman so elusive and alluring that few can claim to have seen her and even fewer can accurately describe her. The venue itself was designed to feel like a private cabana where one can imagine Coco to be a fabled hostess who throws exclusive, lively parties.
Most notable when walking through the doors of Coco de Ville is the playful yet bold style, rarely found in the Los Angeles scene. The lounge’s fearless use of color and space has created a room that is exuberant but sophisticated offering an engaging atmosphere for its guest. From the richly textured, cut-velvet swings that create a functioning wall between the bar and the social seating, to the ornate bird cage lanterns that illuminate the indoor/ outdoor patio, Coco de Ville brings an exultant feeling to those who walk through its doors.
The crowd is as diverse as the room itself, hosting the top tastemakers from all industries. With a limited capacity, however, the intimate space makes for a strict door, allowing in only those invited to mix with the eclectic guests.
Enter this basement bar and lounge underneath STK, and you might feel as though you’ve stumbled down Wonderland’s rabbit hole–except it’s populated with Hollywood glitterati instead of the White Rabbit and company. The psychedelic, Pucci-esque decor is a kaleidoscope of colors, laced with a mishmash of bold prints in shocking pink and electric blue that enhance the intimate spot’s kitschy look. Near the marble-topped bar, paisley yellow and rainbow striped cushions adorn the set of swings hanging from the ceiling. Don’t expect your entrance to be as easy as Alice’s, however; getting past the iron-clad velvet rope is a trip in itself
